Hilton Worldwide has partnered with Qatari investors Al-Rayyan Hospitality to develop the Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas, a massive new property at Salwa Beach. This development is touted as the largest of its kind in the Middle East.
Project Scope and Features
The resort is being built on a 104-hectare (257-acre) site in the southwest of Qatar, located 97km from Doha. The centerpiece is the 362-key Hilton Salwa Beach Resort & Villas, which includes:
- Accommodation:
- Main Hotel: 246 deluxe rooms, including 35 suites, with two being over 1000 sq m presidential suites.
- Villages: Two small villages of family villas, one with 32 one- and two-bedroom suites featuring Arabic architecture, and a second with 84 larger villas of up to five bedrooms.
- Amenities: The resort will offer a vast array of facilities along the shoreline, including:
- A waterpark, a luxury marina and yacht club.
- A dive center, cinemas, and premier retail shopping.
- 13 restaurants, bars, and lounges.
- A 2800 sq m health club and spa.
- More than 3500 sq m of meeting and event space.
Both Hilton and Al-Rayyan Hospitality view this project as a strategic move. Rob Palleschi, global head of Hilton Hotels & Resorts, highlighted the resort as a prime example of the brand’s versatility and its ability to attract “discerning investors.”
Rudi Jagersbacher, president of Hilton Worldwide Middle East & Africa, emphasized that the property sets a new benchmark for resort accommodation in the region.
The project aligns with Qatar’s broader economic diversification strategy. According to an EY report, Qatar’s economy is predicted to have the highest growth in the GCC at 6%. The Qatar Tourism Authority is investing nearly $20 billion in tourism infrastructure, a goal that this development supports.
Mohammed Mutlaq Al Qahtani, of Al-Rayyan Hospitality, stated that Hilton’s “established global credentials” make it the ideal partner to deliver a “best in class” guest experience.
